We are Smart, a leading investment fund manager in Aotearoa New Zealand, rebranded from Smartshares in October 2024.
With over $12 billion in funds under management, we’ve been helping investors grow their wealth through market-proven strategies since 1996. As New Zealand’s first issuer of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), we specialize in market-tracking investments, providing easy access to both local and global opportunities at low fees. Through Smart ETFs, Kiwis can diversify their portfolios across a wide range of funds, tapping into core asset building blocks, global markets, high-growth sectors and unique investment themes.
Smart is a wholly owned subsidiary of NZX Limited, the operator and regulator of the New Zealand stock exchange that provides the trusted infrastructure that our share market runs on.

A reason that has been proven over many decades – and one that many of the world’s smartest investors subscribe to. In short, they believe market tracking investment will beat individual stock selection over the long term.

We provide a number of ways for investors to buy the ‘haystack’ through our market-tracking products that allow you to invest all over the world.
At Smart we also apply our expertise to create a range of ‘ready-made’ investment packages combining different funds, allowing you to easily choose the mix that is right for your investment goals.

Smart ETFs
Our Smart Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are listed on the NZX. These listed funds make it easy for investors to create diverse portfolios at low costs.
SuperLife
SuperLife offers a broad range of unlisted funds, the SuperLife KiwiSaver Scheme and superannuation solutions. SuperLife will be rebranded to Smart in 2025.
QuayStreet
QuayStreet offers managed funds and the QuayStreet KiwiSaver Scheme,
suitable for meeting tailored investment needs, varying timeframes and risk profiles.
